Effective Date: July 16, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how StatusPlus ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information in connection with your use of the StatusPlus mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
We do not directly collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from you when you use the App. However, certain non-personally identifiable information may be collected by third-party services integrated into the App.
Non-Personal Information:
We may collect non-personal information such as:
- Device information such as device model and operating system version
- Usage data including app interactions, features used, and crash reports
- Anonymous identifiers such as advertising ID
User Communications:
When you contact us via email, such as for support, bug reports, or feedback, your email address and any other information you provide will be received by us. This information is used solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiries and providing you with the necessary support. We do not store or use this information for any other purpose, unless required by law.
Permissions:
The App requests only the necessary permissions required for its core features:
- Storage Access: The App uses Android’s Storage Access Framework (SAF) to allow users to manually select the WhatsApp ".Statuses" folder. This method is aligned with Android's privacy standards and scoped storage system. The App does not require broad storage permissions like READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE or WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE. It only accesses the folder selected by the user to read and display status media and does not access any other personal files on the device.
- Internet Access (android.permission.INTERNET and android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): These permissions are required to check network connectivity and to display ads that support the App’s free functionality. They also enable communication with analytics or crash reporting services if used.
- Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): This permission allows integrated ad services like Google AdMob to use your device's anonymous advertising ID. This helps show more relevant ads without revealing your personal identity.
- Contacts (android.permission.READ_CONTACTS): This permission is requested only if you explicitly choose to interact with your mobile's contact list from within the app interface. Our app's primary function is to enable users to directly access a WhatsApp chat page by typing a number, without needing to save the contact. However, should a user wish to communicate with someone from their mobile's contact list, we provide the option to open the contact list for this specific condition. From there, the user selects a number, which is then displayed in an EditText field within the HomeActivity. Upon clicking the 'Send' button, the user is directed to the WhatsApp app's chat page for that selected contact number. We do not read, store, or upload your contact list during this process, nor do we use this information for any other purpose, or share it with anyone. This process concludes once the user is redirected. If this feature is not utilized, this permission is not requested.
2. How We Use Information
The non-personal information collected is used for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App’s core features such as viewing and saving statuses
- To understand how users interact with the App and improve its usability and design
- To display relevant and non-intrusive advertisements
- To monitor app performance, usage trends, and fix technical issues
- To ensure overall stability and detect potential crashes or bugs
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share your personal identity or information with third parties. However, non-personal information may be shared for operational purposes:
- Service Providers: We may use third-party companies for services such as analytics, advertising, or crash reporting. These providers only access non-personal data necessary to perform their services and are not allowed to use it for any other purpose.
- Advertising: The App may display ads through platforms like Google AdMob. These services may use anonymous data to show personalized advertisements. To learn more, please visit Google’s Privacy and Terms.
- Analytics: We may use tools like Firebase or Google Analytics to analyze how users interact with the App to improve functionality. These tools may collect device and usage information.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal request, or if necessary to protect the App’s integrity and user safety.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, your information may be transferred to the new entity. You will be notified in case of such changes.
4. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the non-personal information collected through the App. However, please note that no method of internet transmission or digital storage is 100% secure. While we aim to use commercially acceptable protection, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided personal data without consent, they should contact us immediately. We will promptly delete such data if discovered.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as needed. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Effective Date" at the top. Users are advised to review this policy periodically to stay informed of any updates.
